Many avenues can be taken with internet marketing. Among them are affiliate marketing, email marketing, joint ventures, directs sales, and online auctions. As with any form of business, planning is the first step.
With internet marketing, having a subscriber list is essential to success regardless of the method of internet marketing you use. With a list, you can direct subscribers to your website or your auctions on a regular basis.
Choose your niche
With different products being featured on your website and new listings in an auction each time you send out an email, your sales will only increase as your list grows. The first decision to make is your target audience – what is your niche? You want to find one that there is a passion for and has a lot of potential for different products.
It helps if it is a niche that you already have some knowledge and expertise in but don’t let that limit you. You can become an ‘expert’ in just about anything you choose. It is a good idea to have your own product to establish yourself in your niche. You can either make the product yourself or have it done for you by a freelancer.
Buy resell rights
Another option is to buy the master resell rights to an existing product in your niche. You don’t have to have your own product to start but it does help. Setting up a website is almost a necessity. You will need a way to capture contact info to build your subscriber list. The website can be set up to sell a product in your niche or as an informational site.
Build your list
Either way, have a form on the page to sign up for your newsletter or ezine. Even better, have a ‘squeeze page’ for visitors to give their contact info before getting to your website.
This is very effective as people will willingly give their email address to get to a website that is of interest to them. While you are getting your website and squeeze page ready, you should also choose and set up your autoresponder. You will want to have at least six emails loaded and ready to go once you start getting subscribers.
Offer a bonus
As you are doing this, also find and download products that you can use as free bonuses and gifts to subscribers. The first email is a welcome email. It should give a brief introduction to you and your business. Primarily, it should thank people for subscribing and give a little information on what can be expected in to future.
It should be short, so don’t go into too much detail. A bonus can be offered here for signing up, such as a free report or ebook. The second email should give a bit more information and some tips regarding your niche.
Subsequent emails will give a little more information. Each email should have a link to your site to view your products or auction listings but don’t push for sales too hard or it could backfire.
Build trust
Remember that the first six or so emails are for building a relationship of trust and credibility with your subscribers. Even after the first emails, you don’t want to only send sales emails. Try to offer tips and information in most of your emails. And offer freebies from time to time, too.
This helps to keep your subscribers loyal and interested. Getting subscribers can be done in several ways. Posting in forums related to your niche, pay per click marketing, participating in a giveaway sponsored by another internet marketer and using your bidders list from your online auctions.
On eBay, you can set up a ‘My World’ page and get subscribers through that. With a list, no matter what method or combination of methods you use in internet marketing, you are assured of ongoing sales as long as you maintain trust and credibility with your list.
Part of maintaining that trust and credibility is to review every product before offering it to your list, making sure it is good quality and something you would use yourself. If you try to pass off low quality products to your list, you will lose the trust and credibility you have built.
So make sure of the quality before you promote anyone else’s products. Keep the relationship with your list strong to keep profits coming in.
To your success,
